                 단 수 안 내

 

 

제 목: 대학 전지역 급수(상수도) 및 온수 공급 중단 안내

 

내 용: 포항시 도로 개설 공사와 관련하여 우리 대학교로 공급되는 급수관 이설 공사를 위하여 다음과 같이 급수(상수도) 공급이 중단되오니 참고 하시기 바랍니다.

 

1. 단수일시 : 2012. 4. 15(일). 08:00 ~ 18:00(10시간)

   ※ 단 공사 상황에 따라 단수 시간이 변경될 수 있음.

가. 급수(상수도) 재 공급 과정에 일시적으로 녹물이 발생될 수 있으므로

사용전 충분한 배수 후 사용하시기 바랍니다.

  나. 4월13(금) 퇴실 시에는 급수Valve를 반드시 잠그어 주시기 바랍니다.

NEW 21^ST CENTURY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ACADEMIA AND INDUSTRY

World-class research-oriented universities play a key role in making remarkable discoveries and developing breakthrough technologies. These discoveries and new technologies need to be translated towards practical use.  Unfortunately, the gap between academia and industry has been deepening and widening, which poses a great dilemma even to leading universities in the U.S.

There are several grand challenges in the 21^st century, e.g., energy, environment, food and global health.  In healthcare, new biomedical technologies, ranging from diagnostic and therapeutic devices to bioinformatics and biotechnology, could transform and revolutionize future medicine and healthcare.  Although many pioneering discoveries are being made and new exciting technologies are being developed in academia and research institutes, even the most promising technologies face numerous obstacles in technology commercialization and eventual routine clinical use.  They typically languish and die in the valley of death, frustrating the researchers and angel investors/venture capitalists alike. 

Translational research from lab bench to the marketplace where products and services are provided and consumed is far more difficult and time-consuming than many people estimate or are willing to tolerate.  In spite of this difficulty, academia and industry need to strive to work together with trust and patience and develop a mutually-beneficial relationship.  In this presentation, I will share my experience and observations on the obstacles and formula of success (or failure) in translational research and technology commercialization in science and engineering with several entrepreneurship and technology commercialization examples.

Faculty Position Announcement by EE, POSTECH

The Department of Electrical Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH)
invites prospective applicants for tenure-track faculty positions in the field of power electronics with special
emphasis on motor control and applications to electric vehicles.

POSTECH is a highly prestigious university specializing in science and technology and located in South Korea.
For new faculty members, the university provides seed research funding and generous fringe benefits, including
a free apartment lease for ten years.

POSTECH has a bilingual environment (Korean and English) for both teaching and research. Thus, English speakers
are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in electrical or computer engineering, and
have an exceptional record of research achievements or be able to demonstrate strong research potential.
